Date for your diary – Ayr Flower Show, 5-7 August 2016

Following a very inspirational year at Gardening Scotland – the country’s national outdoor living show at Ingliston, which took place at the start of June – it’s good to know there’s still another fabulous gardening event on the horizon for us Scots to look forward to.

This year sees the Ayr Flower Show celebrate its 56th year in action.  As ever, the show, which is run by the Ayrshire Horticultural Society, will take place at Rozelle from Friday 5th – Sunday 7th August and there is plenty for gardeners, families and foodies to get excited about.

The floral marquee will showcase some of the best horticultural talent that Scotland has to offer, with renowned nurseries such as Holmes Farm Plants, Pips Cactus, Clan Horticulture and Pretty Ugly Plants all taking stands.  According to the Show’s organisers, 2016 is the year of the humble Begonia, and the Scottish Begonia Society will be there to showcase these blooms in full glory.

Over the three days there will be talks and demonstrations for keen and novice gardeners in the horticultural demonstration marquee.  There will also be displays from local young people to encourage budding horticulturalists to design a garden, arrange flowers and grow plants.

The Ayr Flower show promises to be a fun day out for all the family, with the Gaiety theatre arranging entertainment throughout the day, and The Cook School putting on a range of delicious foodie demonstrations to tantalise everyone’s tastebuds.
