Grow your own medicine chest - launch of new seed growing kits
Green fingered enthusiasts are being invited into the world of growing plants for medicine, with the launch of a new product and in-person workshop, developed by a qualified medical herbalist and a horticulturalist.
‘Grow Your Own Medicine Chest’ is a new to the market box, which comes in three sizes, developed by Glasgow-based herbalist Lucie Bradley, and gardener, Nicola Todd-Macnaughton.
To launch the new boxes, business owners Lucie and Nicola are running a hands on workshop on Saturday 16 March in the east end of Glasgow from 1pm – 4pm. The workshop will cover how to sow and grow seeds, as well as information about each of the medicinal plants contained in the boxes. The workshop is priced at £65 and each participant receives a small herb box with their place.
Each box contains seeds of incredible medicinal plants, seed module trays, horticultural instructions for growing the plants and information about each of the herbs and what to do with the plants once they’ve grown. The boxes also come with all the peat-free compost needed to grow herbs at home.
The boxes come in three sizes – small, medium and large. With five, ten or 18 herbs in each box respectively.
Nicola said: “We are so excited to be making these boxes available. Together, Lucie and I want to help people to grow their own herbs. We have a vision for the future which involves everyone having the knowledge and the resources they need to treat their own minor health ailments.”
Lucie said: “Growing your own herb garden will help you to have a rooted connection with each individual plant. We want to empower you to nurture and care for your herbs, and get curious about their properties and how you can use them at home, to create your own bountiful medicine cabinets.”
Lucie runs a busy herbal medicine clinic and working dispensary based in Glasgow, helping people to improve their health and wellbeing using natural methods. She is passionate about using herbs to heal and in her clinics looks at all aspects of her clients lifestyles – physical, emotional, social and environmental - to improve their quality of life.
Nicola is a horticulturalist. She runs a successful design business based in Glasgow, called The Bonnie Gardener, and like Lucie, understands the power of plants to heal people on every level. Nicola has a diploma in Herbology from the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, and while she loves ornamental plants, she loves herbs even more because they are both beautiful and purposeful.
