This beautiful period property in the west end of Glasgow had a front garden full of dominating Rhododendrons, which did not fill the owner with any joy. The owner’s dream for the garden was to transform the space into a wildlife haven, inspired by the famous book by William Robinson called ‘The Wild Garden’. I helped the owner by devising a planting scheme, focused around introducing a variety of interesting feature trees including Rowan, Hamamelis, Viburnum, field maple and dwarf Scots pine. These were set into a wild flower scheme including lots of umbelifers, teasels, foxgloves and Acanthus. The result is an incredible garden which receives no end of compliments from masses of passers by. Year on year it evolves as the wild flowers take hold and self-seed.
